FWB Church Remembers Reverend Tim Elkins
Tim went home to be with our Lord and Savior on April 7, 2008. Our
church family mourns the loss of our Brother. His absence has left a
huge void and he will be missed greatly. Tim had a gift for making
those around him feel special. This was especially true for the youth
in our church and those within our community. Tim could always be seen
with a smile on his face, a twinkle in his eye and an encouraging word for
all.
Tim served the Lord diligently during his life. He was a school bus
driver, making him well known among the children in our community. He
also served as van driver for our youth league bus. Tim was
instrumental in developing an annual youth fund raiser in the form of a
“Cake Auction” that benefits our church youth league as well as Camp Jacob.
Tim was always quick to step up and serve when any need would arise.
Tim and his wife Jill spent several years volunteering at Camp Jacob prior
to serving as the Camp Director from 1999 through 2005. Even after his
departure from serving in a formal capacity from Camp Jacob, he stayed
actively involved as a member of the promotional board. Most recently
Tim became an ordained Minister of the Gospel in the Dickenson County
Conference. Tim was often heard saying, “God is good…all the time!”
He will be forever remembered for his godly example and faithfulness to the
body of Christ.
Tim is survived by his wife of 29 years, Jill, daughters, Amanda and husband
Junior and Crystal and husband Lee and granddaughter Kaylee. He is
also survived by his parents Donnie and Barbara Elkins, brother Mike and
wife Karen Elkins, sister Donna and husband David Coxe and his grandmother
Margery Dotson.
If you would like to honor the life of Tim Elkins through a donation to Camp
Jacob, this may be done by contacting the camp at
