Brother Roy received Christ as his personal Savior on Christmas
1980 and he was baptized in January 1981. He joined the
fellowship of our church in June 1981 and was a faithful member.
He became a Deacon of our church on August 21, 1983 and was a
devoted servant until his passing. Brother Roy was a soldier for
Christ and often shared his own powerful testimony of being
delivered from the vice of alcohol addiction and experiencing
the love of Jesus. As a result, he made it his quest to
prevent others from traveling the same road of addiction and was
instrumental in the decision for a local restaurant to prohibit
the sell alcohol on its premises. Brother Roy enjoyed
sharing the gospel with others and often did this through
visitation at jails, hospitals and nursing homes.
Brother Roy will be remembered
fondly for his deep baritone voice, prominent stature, kind soul
and tender demeanor. He will be greatly missed by all who
knew him. May each of us honor his memory by encouraging others
with the love of Jesus Christ.
